Introduction

Effective procurement and solid contract fundamentals are cornerstones of organizational efficiency, cost control, and risk management. This course provides a practical, business-focused introduction to the procurement lifecycle and contract basics, equipping participants with the tools to plan sourcing, evaluate suppliers, negotiate terms, and manage contract performance while ensuring compliance and value for money.

Objectives

1. Describe the end-to-end procurement lifecycle and define the roles and responsibilities involved.
2. Plan and run a sourcing process, including requirements definition, market approach and evaluation criteria.
3. Evaluate and select suppliers objectively using scoring, due diligence and cost analysis.
4. Draft and review basic contract clauses (scope, price, deliverables, change control, termination and liabilities).
5. Manage contracts after award: performance monitoring, change management, simple dispute avoidance and contract close-out.
